
UPDATE – The Rock Springs Police Department has cleared the scene of a road rage incident that ended in the arrest of two men and the lock-in of an elementary school.
The call occurred at 2:06 p.m. on March 11th.
The incident began with reports of the driver of a black car ‘brake checking’ a Chevy pickup on Dewar Drive.
The police were also notified of a vehicle reported to match the description of the road rage vehicle had pulled into the parking lot of Westridge Elementary School.
Police made contact with the passenger car and the pickup truck in the parking lot of Westridge School.
Initially, the driver of the black car tried to flee but only managed to strike a post in the parking lot at low speed.
The occupants were ordered out of the car. They reportedly did not comply, resulting in their physical removal from the vehicle.

The occupants of the car were discovered to be; Nathaniel A Nez, 19 of Rock Springs, who was driving and a passenger identified as Kyle Toney, 24 also of Rock Springs.

Both men were reportedly intoxicated and were arrested on various charges.
Nez has been booked for alleged driving under the influence, no liability insurance, possession of marijuana, reckless driving and fleeing or eluding a police officer.
Toney was booked for alleged public intoxication and resisting officers.
The driver of the truck was not arrested or suspected of any wrongdoing.
The school was locked out due to an abundance of caution. No students or staff were in danger during the incident.

ROCK SPRINGS — Residents were alarmed at the sight of multiple police and emergency vehicles at Westridge Elementary School this afternoon.
According to the Rock Springs Police Department, two drivers were arrested in Westridge Elementary School’s parking lot after they allegedly engaged in a road rage incident that started on Dewar Drive.
Police are still sorting out the details of what happened and what charges the two may face.
It is standard operating procedure to lock the school down if an incident occurs on the property.
No one was injured and students were not in any danger.
